Active Play, Balance My Day - And Less Screen Time

Activity Idea: Wet Sponge Relay
   
Description: Kids enjoy active play while keeping cool
Grade: 3-6
Supplies:
  • 2 buckets
  • 2 empty jars
  • 2 large sponges (like carwash sponges)

Activity:

This is a fun, quick and easy activity for summer youth programming or family use at home!

  1. Form 2 teams and fill the buckets full with water.
  2. Have each team make a line next to a bucket of water.
  3. Place the empty jars at the other end of the playing field in line with each team.
  4. When the game starts, have the first player of each team put the sponge in the water, put it on their head, and run towards their jar at the other end of the field.
  5. When they reach the jar, they squeeze the water from the sponge into the jar and run back. As the player returns, the next person in line goes and so on. The first team to fill the jar to overflowing wins!
