Healthy Kids Challenge® (HKC) is a nationally recognized, award winning program.
HKC helps schools and community programs problem-solve barriers and create plans for policies, practices and nutrition education. HKC training, healthy eating lesson plans, and activities motivate wellness with interactive learning and goal setting.
Partnerships with national health and wellness leaders, Cigna and SPARK, have been significant in developing some of the earliest work of implementing comprehensive school wellness plans. The partnerships continue and now reach school, after school, and community youth programs across the U.S.
In 2016, HKC was acquired by Sportime featuring SPARK, a division of School Specialty, Inc., who is excited to continue helping to meet the challenge for healthier kids and families.
Healthy Kids Challenge® is aligned with National Standards
HKC continuously strives to align the Balance My Day Nutrition Education Curriculum with the most recent nationally recognized standards such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT), the Alliance for a Healthier Generation Healthy Out-of School Time Framework (HOST) and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Guide for Effective Nutrition Interventions and Education (GENIE).
While we recognize the importance of quality resources and training, we understand the impact those who have a direct connection to kids can make. We call people who can help kids make healthy eating and physical activity choices a habit, KidLinks™.
