University Basketball Team Inspires Healthy Actions
Team
work is the name of the game for Chester A. Arthur Elementary
and their successful “Girls Club” each Tuesday
after school is a good example. They have featured guest
speakers from their partner Drexel University women’s
basketball players to inspire and role-model healthy
actions!
School
nurse, Lorraine Cohen, is using bulletin boards to keep
the communication lines open with her KidLink team.
Each player makes a contribution toward success of the
whole team with every healthy change!
Successful After School Club Lays the Foundation
A successful after school club and past collaboration
with various organizations is the foundation for the
Chester A. Arthur Elementary School Showcase School
program.
School
nurse, Lorraine Cohen, outlined the goals of their project
as
- increase
nutrition knowledge
- encourage
healthier food choices through classroom education
- post
healthy social marketing messages
- implement
environmental changes
Chester
A. Arthur is laying the ground work to echo healthy
eating and physical activity messages through targeted
areas such as school fundraisers and classroom teachers.
With these projects as a base, they are building “Showcase”
success!
