I just learned from a CDC report that only 1 in 10 high schoolers are eating fruits and veggies the recommended 5 times a day!  10%?  Really?  What about elementary and middle schoolers - the Healthy Kids Challenge target audience?  I don't know, but can it get worse?

Once a month, I challenge people everywhere to take ONE simple, healthy action - it's called My Healthy Challenge, and it's on our home page, left-hand side.  There are 5 actions, and #3 and #4 this month have to do with fruits and veggies!   

 #3.  Try veggies in a veggie-stuffed peppers-for a great-tasting snack or side dish.  See Del Monte's healthy recipes for ideas!

 #4.  Health in a glass!  Simply combine in a blender 1 cup skim milk, 1 frozen, sliced banana, and a heaping spoonful of peanut butter.

 Pick one of these and do it.  Better yet, pick one and have the kids in your school or youth program, join you in the challenge!  You have until the end of October to take action-once, twice, or every day!  One person who submits their Challenge story will receive a gift package of Del Monte and Healthy Kids Challenge products.  To submit your story, go to our My Healthy Challenge page.
