2010-2011 Recipe Contest Entry Rules and Prize Information

Entry Rules
For eligibility all contest rules must be observed
- Contestant must be currently enrolled in 7th or 8th grade.
- Contestant can enter only one recipe as an individual.
- The contest offers a class/group entry. Only one contest entry per group.
- All entries must be signed by a parent or guardian and if entry prepared as part of a class experience, a teacher.
- A color photograph of the recipe must be included. (Must be an actual photo for Web site use, not a photo copy of a picture.)
- Essay must be included.
- Recipe must include a Del Monte canned fruit, vegetable or tomato as a primary ingredient.
- Recipe must be lower in fat, sugar, and salt compared to a typical recipe.

Ingredient Requirements
- Must include ingredients from at least 3 food groups in the recipe
- Must include a Del Monte canned fruit, vegetable or tomato as a primary ingredient in the recipe
Recipe Guidelines
The recipe must:
- Specify number of servings (a 1 serving recipe is okay)
- List ingredients and quantities, followed by the steps in the preparation process in numerical order (follow the sample recipe)
- Be lower in fat, sugar, and salt compared to typical recipes
- Be original or a healthy revised recipe. Plagiarized recipes will not be accepted. If submitting a healthy revised recipe, you must include where the original recipe came from, and its title. For example: Berry Smoothie, Betty Crocker Cookbook, 2007 edition. The recipe makeover will need to be explained in the essay questions.
Essay
Along with the recipe, entry form, and photograph, each student must answer the essay questions and submit.

Judging Criteria:
All entries will be judged on the following:
- Recipe originality and creativity
- Use of a Del Monte canned fruit, vegetable or tomato as a primary ingredient
- Healthy ingredients (lower in fat, sugar, salt)
- Presentation and appearance portrayed in photo
- Essay quality and how completely essay questions are answered

Winners Announced
