Your health is priceless. Choose to give the "gift of health" this holiday season for your friends and loved ones. Share the following healthy gift ideas promoting physical activity and healthy eating in parent newsletters, E-mail messages, or on staff bulletin boards.

  • Playground Equipment-soccer, basketball, soccer, tennis or playground balls, bats, baseball mitts, jump ropes, cones, Frisbee discs, or tennis rackets

  • Outdoor Family/Group Games-badmitton, flag football, croquet or bocce ball sets

  • Active Indoor Family/Group Games- Twister®, or charades-type games

  • Healthy Gift Certificates-to a local produce farm, for a cooking or physical activity class

Champions for Healthy Kids Grant Program
Deadline:
 January 15, 2010
The General Mills Foundation, in partnership with the American Dietetic Association Foundation and the President's Council on Physical Fitness, developed the Champions for Healthy Kids grant program to fund community-based groups that help youth adopt a balanced diet and active lifestyle. The General Mills Foundation awards 50 grants of $10,000 each.

Toyota TAPESTRY Grants for Science Teachers 
Deadline: January 18, 2010
The Toyota TAPESTRY Grants for Science Teachers program, administered by the National Science Teachers Association, provides support for K-12 science teachers throughout the United States for innovative projects that enhance science education in their schools and/or school districts. Fifty large grants of up to $10,000 and a minimum of 20 to 32 mini-grants of up to $2,500 will be awarded.
