Role-modeling Healthy Behaviors at Home
Do yourself and your kids a favor by role-modeling healthy eating and physical activity during this holiday season. As families gather...

  • show your kids how to each healthy portions of foods and treats by using moderation in your own eating.
  • choose to eat healthy snacks between meals like raw veggies and low fat Ranch dressing, low fat cheese and whole grain crackers, or fruit.
  • encourage healthy balance by making time for fun physical activity for yourself and the kids. Depending on the weather, organize a family touch football game, take a hike, go sledding, or build a snowman.

Funding Opportunities
The following grants can be used for school or youth program initiatives promoting healthy eating and physical activity. Consider using music education to promote healthy movement and nutrition!

Muzak Heart & Soul Foundation Grants
Deadline:
 February 5, 2010
Muzak Heart & Soul Foundation invites grant applications for music education programs.Grants of up to $12,000 will be awarded to public schools and nonprofits working to fund existing or planned public school or independent music programs across the nation.

Loewe's Toolbox for Education Grant Program 
Deadline: February 12, 2010 (However, if 1,500 applications are received before the application deadline, then the application process will close. Grants of up to $5,000 to K-12 public schools and 501(c)(3) parent-teacher groups associated with public schools that develop projects which encourage parent involvement and build stronger community spirit.
