Directions:
- Have kids draw an outline of the MyPlate image including the dairy circle on their paper plate.
- Ask kids to color the circle representing the Dairy group in blue. Explain that the circle reminds kids to drink milk or eat other dairy foods at meals.
- Gather the finished artwork.
- Divide the kids into two teams.
- Line up the teams facing each other at opposite ends of the room.
- Scatter all the MyPlate artwork on the floor in the center of the room.
- Explain the following rules:
- The leader will call out names of foods from a variety of MyPlate groups.
- If foods from groups other than the Dairy group are called out, kids spin around and call out "healthy balance"!
- If a food from the dairy group is called out, the whole team hops 3 times (to represent 3 daily servings) and calls out "up with calcium" while the first person in line runs to pick up a MyPlate paper plate.
- The first person returns to the end of the line and the sequence is repeated until all kids have a MyPlate paper plate.
