Dairy makes a great breakfast food!
Dairy Dazzlling Calcium Carnival, Tulsa, OK

Directions:

1. Across a blackboard or flip chart, list headings for each of the different MyPyramid food groups.
2.  Ask students what they like to eat for breakfast. Have students categorize each response according to the appropriate food group. Write the name of the food in the correct category on the blackboard.
3.  Work in groups or as a class, to use the items listed on the blackboard in planning breakfast menus that include at least 3 different food groups.
4. Optional:
a. Talk about how much time it would take to prepare the menus and how menus might be planned differently for weekend vs. school days (depending on preparation time).
b. Consider kitchen equipment necessary to prepare the menus selected, i.e., a microwave, stovetop, blender, or oven.
