Fruits & Veggies – Every Day the Tasty Way!

Eat at least 5 servings (and up to 9) of fruits and veggies each day.
Help kids learn “More Matters”!



Activity Idea: “My Choice”

Description: Kids choose a fruit and/or veggie they like or
would try eating

Grades: K-2

Supplies:

 

• Magazine cutouts of fruits and veggies
Paper plates
Glue



Preschoolers see and
hold a rainbow of fruit
and veggie colors

Directions:

1. Before beginning the activity, cut out fruit and veggie picture examples from magazines.
2.  Have each child:
a.  Choose a magazine picture of a fruit and/or veggie they like or would be willing to try.
b.  Write the name and glue the fruit and/or veggie picture on a paper plate. (Assist with spelling and writing as needed.)
3. Ask kids to see how many times they can find THEIR fruit and/or veggie at the Food Museum (grocery store) the next time they go with an adult. Encourage them to report back to the class.
 
*Later, use the fruit and veggie paper plate creations to build a “More Matters” bulletin board display!
