Activity Idea: Play Food Feud

Source: Adapted from HKC Setting Up for Success booklet
Description: Similar to the television game show, "Family Feud", two teams try to outdo each other answering healthy fruit and veggie questions
Grade: Any
Supplies:
  • Bell or buzzer
  • Prepared fruit and veggie questions (samples on page 48 of Setting Up for Success or gather from www.fruitsandveggiesmorematters.org or www.dole5aday.com)

Directions:

  1. Gather the kids and designate a game show host, a scorekeeper and two teams of 3-5 players each. The remaining kids serve as the audience..
  2. To begin, the host reads the prepared question out loud.
  3. Each team "huddles" to quickly discuss their answer.
  4. One person rings the bell when their team thinks they have the right answer.
  5. The team to ring in first has the first chance to answer the question correctly.
  6. If the first team to ring in does NOT have the correct answer, the other team gets a chance to guess.
  7. The team that gives the correct answer scores one point.
  8. If neither team give the correct answer, the audience is asked if they know the answer.
  9. The game continues until a designated score or time limit is reached. The team with the most points is declared the winner.
