Enjoy the taste and variety of all the MyPlate food groups with the kids you lead this week! Make it into a simple learning activity using a MyPlate poster or drawing, too. Try the suggestions at the end of the post - or make up your own!

Turkey Veggie Wrap
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 7 regular size wraps

Ingredients:
7 medium (8” dia.) whole grain tortillas
7 Tbsp. fat free cream cheese
7 oz. lean deli turkey
7 Tbsp. grated carrot
7 Tbsp. finely chopped lettuce

Directions:

  1. Wash hands with soap and water before handling food or utensils to prevent the spread of germs.
  2. Grate the carrot and chop the lettuce using a clean sharp knife and cutting board. Set aside.
  3. Spread the tortilla on a clean surface and spread with 1 tablespoon fat free cream cheese.
  4. Top the cream cheese with 1 ounce turkey, 1 tablespoon grated carrot and 1 tablespoon chopped lettuce.
  5. Roll the tortilla for a wrap and continue with the rest of the tortillas. Serve.
  6. Clean-up work area and utensils with warm soapy water. Rinse with clean water.

Yummy Fruit Combo
Preparation Time: 10-15 minutes
Serves: 8 (1-peach) servings

Ingredients:
8 canned peach halves, juice packed (3-15 oz. cans)
3 – 4 oz. fat free vanilla pudding cups
1 1⁄2 cup fresh green grapes, rinsed and finely chopped

Directions:

  1. In advance, chill canned peaches, grapes, and pudding in a refrigerator.
  2. Wash hands with soap and water before handling food or utensils to prevent the spread of germs.
  3. Thoroughly rinse and drain grapes.
  4. Place grapes on cutting board and chop finely. Place in small bowl and set aside.
  5. Open canned peaches and using a slotted spoon to drain, place a peach half, cut side up, on 8 dessert plates.
  6. Open pudding cups and measure 1 Tbsp. of pudding on each peach half.
  7. Measure 1-1/2 tsp. of chopped grapes on each peach half and serve.
  8. Clean-up work area and utensils with warm soapy water. Rinse with clean water.
