Full
Team Approach!
The
Healthy Kids Challenge process includes a full-team
approach to taking actions that influence healthy
eating and/or physical activity. The goal of the team
is to look at the whole environment, rather than focusing
on a single factor such as a lack of
nutrition education, insufficient time for physical
education, meals or snacks.
Every
Day Practices!
Key to the process is a focus on:
-
Making healthy choices (instead of a focus on weight)
- How
all foods fit with healthy balance
-
Integrating skill building activities into daily practices
- Increasing
the minutes kids are in motion through the day
Simple
Action Steps!
The
HKC process consists of 5 action steps. The
HKC Take Healthy Action
booklet is a guidebook for the following action steps:
1. Build a team of KidLinks™?
(A KidLink™ is anyone with a connection to kids)
2. Look at what exists
3. Plan and take healthy action
4. Measure progress
5. Celebrate
