Walk Through the Pyramid
Walk Through the Pyramid™ is an example of how Healthy Kids Challenge helps kids and families hear about, see, and practice healthy behaviors!
Walk Through MyPyramid™
- a fun community or school event teaching healthy choices
- held in malls, on football fields, in auditoriums and in libraries
- for kids of all ages and families
- an employee wellness motivator
The "Walk" is a hands-on learning experience. It brings the USDA MyPyramid to life. With a unique blend of “edu-tainment,” a fun way of teaching kids and families by combining interactive education and entertainment. Food trivia, choosing favorites from each MyPyramid food group, rolling the dice in an active play game, and even creating a MyPyramid bracelet for take home fun are all a part of the healthy "learning".
California School Leaders Walk Through the Pyramid
Over 1000 participants at the 2009 California School Wellness Conference, held in Anaheim, had the opportunity to experience the HKC interactive Walk Through the Pyramid™ exhibit. "I can do this!", "This needs to be in all schools", "Can you train our staff?", were frequently heard from school leaders at the conference as they did their walk. 95% of participants indicated this was a life like situation that could be feasibly implemented for staff, kids and families in a multitude of environments.
