| Winners
of the Healthy Heritage Recipe Contest
Across
the country, 7th and 8th graders cooked up AWESOME dishes
for the 3rd Annual Healthy Heritage Recipe Contest.
Johnson
& Wales University and Healthy Kids Challenge have announced
the winners for the 3rd Annual National Middle School Healthy
Heritage Recipe Contest! Help us celebrate the creativity
of these 7th and 8th graders, and join us next year for what
promises to be a super 4th annual contest!
The Healthy
Heritage Recipe Contest
• Encourages young chefs of
tomorrow to showcase their culinary creativity
• Promotes healthy eating habits
• Promotes nutritionally well-balanced
food preparation
• Focuses on heritage
This year’s
contestants shared their learning experience with siblings,
parents, and teachers as they selected and prepared the recipe,
and wrote a 250-word essay to enter the contest. Prizes for
the 4 national winners included Johnson & Wales partial
scholarships and a special prize package. In addition, the
winners and their schools received an onsite event filled
with healthy fun! These 4 future culinary professionals became
a “Chef for a Day” when they prepared their recipe
with a Johnson & Wales chef. They tested the recipes,
improved the nutritional content, time savings and cost! It
was an AWESOME experience with chefs from one of the nation’s
leading culinary schools.
