Winners of the 2006 Healthy Heritage Recipe Contest

Across the country, 7th and 8th graders cooked up AWESOME dishes for the 4th Annual Healthy Heritage Recipe Contest.

Johnson & Wales University and Healthy Kids Challenge have announced the winners for the 4th Annual National Middle School Healthy Heritage Recipe Contest! Help us celebrate the creativity of these 7th and 8th graders, and join us next year for what promises to be a super 5th annual contest!

The Healthy Heritage Recipe Contest
    • Encourages young chefs of tomorrow to showcase their culinary creativity
    • Promotes healthy eating habits
    • Promotes nutritionally well-balanced food preparation
    • Focuses on heritage

This year’s contestants shared their learning experience with relatives and teachers as they selected and prepared the recipe, and wrote a 250-word essay to enter the contest. Prizes for the 4 national winners include:

  • Johnson & Wales partial scholarships
  • A special prize package including small kitchen equipment
  • A subscription to Cooking Light magazine

These 4 future culinary professionals will become a “Chef for a Day” when they prepare their recipe with a Johnson & Wales chef. Each winner and his Chef will test their recipe, improve the nutritional content, time savings and cost! It will certainly be an AWESOME experience with chefs from one of the nation’s leading culinary schools.
