It is time to Take Action!

Regardless of weight, a majority of Americans are not eating healthy or getting enough physical activity. With better choices, we can hope to reach optimum wellness. For children, the rewards are even greater! Studies show there is a link with healthy eating, physical activity and academic success.

Healthy Kids Challenge (HKC) helps with ideas to put enjoyment into balance. Most of our work is with schools and community programs; however we know families are key to making a difference! Below, we’ve included several tips to enhance what you are already doing, or to pass along to others:

  1. Support healthy efforts at schools and in the community by taking interest and getting involved.

    Support healthy fundraisers, or volunteer for healthy eating-physical activity related classroom activities or PTA-PTO projects. Learn more about healthy happenings by serving on a school wellness committee.
     
  2. Take the HKC "Fit Meter" to see where your habits stack up with guidelines for healthy eating and physical activity. Set your own healthy goals.
     
  3. Sign-up for HKC’s My Healthy Challenge and receive monthly ideas for making healthy eating and physical activity choices a habit.
